After signing a long-term strategic cloud agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS), one of the largest banks in the world is now ready to roll out a number of new customer-facing apps.
HSBC announced the global agreement in order to help drive a digital transformation project that will deliver new products to millions personal banking customers around the world.
The financial giant will target application modernization within its Global Wealth and Personal Banking businesses to improve customer experiences and deliver personalized services. As part of a multi-year agreement, the bank plans to integrate AWS serverless, analytics, and streaming products like Amazon Kinesis.
“Our work with AWS shows how HSBC continues its investment in secure and advanced technology to make digital banking even more enjoyable for customers,” said Dinesh Kesseli, Chief Technology Officer and the CIO for Digital at HSBC.
“Our goal is to make banking with us easy, safe, reliable, and convenient for our customers, wherever and whenever they are.” AWS and HSBC collaborate to provide innovative banking solutions to customers faster, starting with our Wealth and Personal Banking businesses.
AWS claims that the migration will enable HSBC to “drive innovations, automate key processes and improve operational efficiency across a variety of personal financial services.” HSBC Holdings is based in London and will make full use AWS’ cloud services. AWS lists compute, containers storage, database, machine learning and security as the main drivers for helping to develop new products.
Frank Fallon, Vice President of Financial Services at AWS stated: “HSBC continues to expand its use AWS to power their digital transformation and deliver innovative services that help customers manage and protect their wealth in new and better ways.
“We look forward our continued collaboration with HSBC, as they leverage AWS’s proven capabilities, reliability and security to drive efficiency throughout their business and become a better organization in the cloud.”
