Please tell us a bit about yourself. What were you doing professionally before you started bootcamp?
I am 28 years old. My hobbies include reading manga, side projects for friends’ websites, and going to the gym. Before the bootcamp, my job was as a Process Assistant at Amazon.
Why did you choose to enroll in a bootcamp for coding?
I was aware that I was at the end of my rope with my current job and needed a change. I looked into the bootcamp. I needed a new challenge and something I enjoyed doing, which was what I saw when I decided to enroll in the bootcamp.
What were your fears and doubts that prevented you from enrolling? How did you overcome them?
One of my biggest fears was not knowing enough about coding to be able to program successfully. This fear, along with many others, was overcome by the fact that I tried to see if it was possible.
What was the secret to Coding Dojo’s success? Why did you choose Coding Dojo over other programs?

How was it to get ready for bootcamp? Were you nervous, excited, etc.? How did you prepare?
When I was preparing for the bootcamp, I was anxious, excited, and a bit nervous. Before I started to do the bootcamp, I researched more about what I would be doing.
Take us through the first few weeks of the program. Which parts were your favorites? What parts did you struggle with?
Although it was initially a little intimidating, I began to enjoy it more and better over time. I loved the fact that I could always turn to someone for help with any questions. One of my biggest struggles was actually putting the material to use once I had learned it.
What were your strategies for overcoming the difficulties you faced?
I was able to overcome them by trying my best and even failing. It helped me understand the problem and helped me get past it.
Do you have any funny stories to share about bootcamp? Make friends! Do you have fond memories?
My final project, which I completed before graduating, is the one memory I have that will always be cherished. After losing my mother, I was trying to figure out how I could do this. My instructor Melissa was there for me and encouraged me to finish the project even though I didn’t believe I could.

It was very exciting and enjoyable. I was hired as a Software Engineer Intern at the Texas Advanced Computing Center in Austin.
Did the bootcamp provide you with anything other than coding skills?
The one soft skill I am so grateful for was the ability to express my opinion on any topic and not be afraid of what others might think.
What advice would you give to others interested in coding bootcamps, or just starting one?
Never be afraid of failing. This will help you discover your true potential.
What are your future goals/dreams, in five or ten years?
My goals for 5-10 years are to continue coding at a company that reflects my passion and be able to help others starting out.
